About battlecry

It was an interesting occurrence when I thought of the name Battlecry. For a couple of weeks, I had been working for a friend of a friend, digging out a section of yard for a driveway to be laid (by the way, don't ask me to do this, it turned out horrible). I had only been running my church's youth program with my wife for a few months at this time. Our senior Pastor and I had been discussing vision, direction, identity, and everything in between for a while. On this day, I just had "Battlecry" pop into my head randomly. I remember being so excited when I got home and told my wife, who returned with, "Well what does it mean?" I didn't know, and I wouldn't find out for a few more weeks until we attended the Pacific Northwest Youth Leader's Convention in Redmond, Washington. That weekend was life changing for me. Not only was it where God called me into full time ministry, but also provided me with all of the answers for what "Battlecry" would mean.

Who We Are

Battlecry is representation of the spiritual battleground that we as Christians are a part of in today's society, whether we like it or not. Our youth are faced with a tremendous up hill battle, and here at Battlecry, we aim to prepare them for that fight. Our motto is "Put on the full armor of God." which is directly form Ephesians 6:10-20. Every youth in our ministry will discover their own spiritual calling, whether it be through outreach, media, or one on one mentoring with another youth. Our purpose is to spread Christ's message of love, and forgiveness.

Our History

Battlecry is the Youth Ministry program under College Park Community Church, located in North Bend, Oregon on the beautiful Oregon Coast. College Park Community Church was founded in the early part of the 1900's in home of Lee and Mary Golder. Eventually the church was moved into the building we are currently located in the 1960's. Our current Youth Director, Joshua Spillers, moved to the Coos Bay area in 2002, and began attending the youth program in 2003. Josh began his position as Youth Director in 2015, and was proceeded by Tim Lusby, and John and Tina Guetterman.
